My mixed media quilts incorporate drawings and/or prints on fabric embellished with appliques, dye, beads, sequins, ink, paint, ribbons, and patchworks of various fabrics (most of which I have a sentimental attachment to.) The hand sewn works range between 5ft and 8ft in height and width. Order of selected pieces:
1. Lisa's House (2 panel), 2015
2. The Neighborhood (3-panel), 2011
3. Gingerbread (2-panel), 2011
4. Big Flower, 2015
5. Girl with Blue Black Planes, 2008
6. Buildings, 2008
7. The Gaurdian, 2001
8. Girl with Houses and Clouds, 1998
9. Blue Faced Girl, 2007
10. Many Planes, 2004
11. City Girl, 2000
12. Solo Plane, 2006
While I mostly create and exhibit my ceramic sculptures and mixed media quilts, every so often I manage to complete and show my occasional paintings and drawings. Here are a select bunch from about a 20 year period. Paintings are usually on the larger side-- at least 5ft in height-- and drawings are about 30" on their longest side. I use a variety of materials, including acrylic, oil (paint and sticks), charcoal, conte' crayon, colored pencil, graphite, and house paint.
Making "smaller" sculptures has been important for my career in that they tend to have more flexibility: They are more easily transported cross country and are more ready able to share space in group exhibitions (as compared to my installations.) The group posted here span about a ten year period. All have been exhibited in a variety of venues in many states. As is the case with my other work, when there are figures, they are life-size.
